Where it all began

It was during his time, in 2009, at HM Treasury in the UK Government, and later as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Department of Health, that Gilbert Verdian first realised the full potential of distributed ledger technology – particularly blockchain: he saw how it could advance patient care by providing interoperability across multiple networks and datasets. This realisation led – in 2015 – to Gilbert establishing the Blockchain ISO Standard TC307, which has become an international effort of 57 countries and organisations working together to standarise the technology. To Gilbert, its implications for driving improvements in other sectors were very clear. And immensely exciting.

Our story

The challenge of interoperability

Before the full value of distributed ledger technology – and especially blockchain – could be unlocked, a major challenge needed to be addressed: interoperability. Although, a decade previously, it had been predicted that blockchain technology would crystallise into a single platform, this had not happened. Instead, the technology had fragmented into a landscape of many blockchain types – none of which could talk to each other. Interoperablity was therefore critical to mass adoption.

The solution – a world first

Thus, Overledger was born: the world’s only Enterprise DLT operating system that delivers full interoperability of all current and future DLTs, as well as legacy networks – with no extra overhead. And it has proved a major breakthrough, allowing organisations everywhere to realise the full value of DLTs such as blockchain, quickly and easily. Today, Overledger OS and Overledger Network continue to evolve rapidly, helping governments, businesses and individuals across the globe to connect ever more quickly, efficiently and securely.
